Lets talk a little about what bush lakes are at Agate Bay Lodge. Our bush lakes are uninhabited, smaller lakes that have a different structure than Pagwachuan Lake (our main base camp lake). Being smaller lakes, they are easier to manage, you can fish a good portion of the lake in one day, and you will find fish concentrated into smaller areas. From a structure and experience standpoint it gives you variety, and a way to work different types of lakes in one trip. You will get the feel of a fly-in fishing trip, without the cost of a fly-in. Our Bush lakes allow you to explore that sense of adventure…
One of our lakes has a number of small islands, with a flowage going through the lake into other lakes. Ever see walleye come to the surface to feed, or even jump while chasing minnows. Famous for sticking close to the bottom, you will see walleye take to the air in this lake.

Another of our bush lakes has one island, with a couple bays. This lake has a good population of northern pike, in fact one afternoon we spent a couple hours casting for northern and caught over 40 fish (that was 1 fish landed, and realeased every 3 minutes), now talk about action. This lake also holds some of the fattest walleye I have ever seen. They are so thick across the back, they look like footballs with fins.
Adding this type of variety to your trip makes each one memorable. You might come across a lake that becomes a real favorite to you. Go in catch your limit, have a shore lunch on one of the islands, explore, photograph and enjoy each of these day trips. Close out the day with some catch and release fishing and you will have crammed a weeks worth of enjoyment into one day… and guess what… you still have the rest of the week to do it all over again.
